Scope 1.02 - Mobile Incineration

Mobile combustion includes emissions from the combustion of fuels in vehicles and mobile machinery owned or controlled by a company.

Definition

This category includes emissions from passenger car fleets, trucks, buses, construction vehicles, ships, or aircraft, to the extent that they are attributable to the company. It covers fuel volumes (diesel, gasoline, kerosene, LNG, etc.) that can be directly traced via fuel invoices or fuel cards.

Meaning in context

In many service and manufacturing companies, mobile combustion is a significant Scope 1 driver. Logistics companies and businesses with large field operations in particular benefit from accurate tracking, as fuel consumption is directly linked to costs and efficiency.

Business practice

Measures to reduce emissions include fleet electrification, optimizing routes and capacity utilization, the use of biofuels, and integration into internal carbon pricing systems.
